She had this warm smile and bright pink shirt on. With Modern Women becoming more a part of me as I venture into this platform, I knew I wanted to speak with her. I didn’t know about what, I just knew I was looking at a vibrant woman who approached me so sweetly. I didn’t even have to ask for a story. She walked right up to me, and the beauty in what she said was her story. It was a simple reminder of exactly what a modern woman is in our world today. Challenging the social norms, breaking out of ways that have been set in stone for so many decades:

I saw you dancing, and I just wanted to dance with you. I’m from India. You were dancing so on your own, and I saw that, and I wanted to be a part of it. Where I’m from I see women are so dependent on their husbands, their children; their happiness is depending on other’s happiness. They do these things to get things back. I think they should learn to live on their own. To be independent. Love is freedom, love your kids and expect them to go. I am a doctor and I hear my patients always say ‘I wish I could’ve loved them more for what they were.’ You always could have loved more. That is the best way to die.; love everyone to the maximum that you can. The dance, the food, the everything, it’s beautiful!”
